Help Brock Hamill Tackle Cancer

This Go Fund Me page has been created by Brock Hamill's loved ones to raise money to help Brock tackle cancer head on and to help his family with financial support and ongoing medical bills for treatment.

In 2017, Brock, then only 18 years old, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It may be surprising to most people that testicular cancer effects only 800 men each year in Australia and only accounts for 1% of all cancer in men. This goes without saying that testicular cancer is not a  common cancer however it is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer, after skin cancer, in men aged 18 - 39.

Brock started his Football career at the Southport Tigers in the U12's team. During this time, through his dedication to the game, he made multiple representative teams such as; South Coast Vikings, Kookaburra's and Queensland (to name a few). In addition, he attended the Keebrah Park State High School in the Rugby League Excellence Program who went on to be the Australian School Boys GIO Cup Champions in 2017.

Brock, being only 19 years old, is in the prime of his life and he has recently been offered a contract with the Canterbury Bulldogs which he was due to go to Sydney for in November 2017. Unfortunately, only 3 days before leaving, Brock was given the devastating news that he had testicular cancer and had to undergo surgery immediately. In Brock's usual tough and uncompromising style, he held off the 'opposition' and received the 'all clear' to head to Sydney to take his place with the Canterbury Bulldogs U20's, scoring 2 tries and being awarded man of the match in his first game.

Just 7 weeks into his time with the Bulldog's, Brock received more devastating news following recent tests.... The 'opposition' had made a come back.... The Cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and Brock had to return home to the Gold Coast immediatly to start 12 weeks of intensive chemotherapy, during which he is unable to work, play or train.

The most inspiring thing since starting chemo is that Brock has continued to remain the positive, determined, compassionate, funny and charismatic guy that we all know and love. Brock has not let this get him down and has continued to face each day with a huge smile, even on the day where he had to shave off his famous red afro.

For those of you who choose to donate, your money will go towards helping a young man fight this disease and will also help relieve the financial strain felt by his family - Kylie, Brett and Jess.

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Brock and his loving and supportive family during these 12 hard weeks ahead.

Let's help support Brock to a speedy recovery and help him achieve his life goal of making history on the football field and ensure that cancer is only a chapter in Brock's life - not the whole story.
