Water is down in the riverbanks still flowing fairly swift. Lots of debris still been cleaning up and will be for awhile. Kids baseball equipment in city storage shed, pitching machine, etc some of the other things lost due to flood. Thanks for donating and sharing.
Today I see 15 train cars of railroad repair machinery, 4 pickups and a van full of workers. West of Osmond approx 15 miles
Tremendous work by railroad crews, brought in train car loads of rock to replaced what was washed out. One backhoe lifted the washed out rails while crews placed tons of new rock under the rails. It was great to hear the train whistle blow this week as tracks carried grain cars and ethanol tank cars slowly down the repaired line. Im sure its not 100% but its back in service at emergency capacity. Hundreds of miles of track still need repaired across Nebraska, Missouri, etc. Thankful to hear that train whistle blowing. At least one family told me they turned in receipts for their flooded basement and Osmond Security Bank paid some donation money to them so it is being dispersed organized by Home team/community club through Osmonds Security Bank! Thank you., and still more work to be done.
Well over 500 in town today for cleanup I would guess. School closed for 2.5 days. Water receding but still 8ft above normal river level. Family members who drove from Kansas and other surrounding areas and friends from nearby communities. Businesses that sent their employees out with equipment to help. Farmers and Ranchers bringing in tractors, trailers, loaders, forklifts, pumps, shovels, saws. Just like this flagpole that went through the flood, still standing , bend....not break. Roads, highways, railways, homes, businesses, have been taken out. Heavy equipment from Fairbury Ne arrived today in preperation of railroad repairs.
