Richard Catbagan Family Education Trust

On Saturday 5th December 2020, the Catbagan family lives changed forever, unexpectedly losing Richard in tragic circumstances at Teewah Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Richard was a Son, Brother, Uncle, Husband, Father and close friend to many throughout both Australia and the Philippines.

Richard moved to Australia in 2011 with the dream of creating more opportunities for his family,  but a main focus was for the opportunities it could create for his children - Deneze (15), Risie (12), Kian (9)

Richard loved Australia, becoming an Australian Citizen in 2016 with the intention of making Australia a forever home with wife Sherilyn and their children. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and everything this amazing country has to offer - but his main drive was to provide for his family, with a big emphasis on providing a good education for his children.

Following the tragic events in December 2020, Sherilyn and the family were overwhelmed by the support of friends and the local Dalby community through such a difficult time. It has now been over 4 months since that tragic day.

This fundraising appeal is to raise money for the Catbagan Education Trust. This has been created to support Sherilyn into the future, and truly create a legacy for Richard that will live forever through his children. All funds raised will go to the Trust, to be used in supporting Deneze, Risie & Kian for their future education. This is something that is close to Sherilyn's heart as it was such a big focus for her and Richard and their ambitions for their children.

We will also be holding a "Day for Richard" on Friday 30th April,  which will allow businesses & workplaces to hold a morning tea or lunch to raise money for the Trust.  We encourage anyone who wants to join the initiative to Fly a White Balloon on this day in memory of Richard.  All money raised can be deposited directly in the Trust account or via this Go Fund me page.

We acknowledge that some people made donations to support costs associated with the funeral arrangements and the family are extremely grateful for your contribution. This fundraiser was designed to be a long lasting legacy for Richard and we encourage people to support this amazing cause. No matter the donation, big or small, your contribution will be supporting the lives of an amazing family.

To ensure people know this is an official fundraising page, we have registered with the Office of Fair Trading so we can ensure we are doing everything in accordance with the laws. We have been sanctioned under the Collections Act 1966  - Certificate of Sanction No. CP6550.

This fundraiser is an initiative by his former employer, the SunPork Group. Richard was a well respected and key member of the business having worked with SunPork since coming to Australia ten years ago. All SunPork locations will be Flying the White Balloon on Friday 30th April to raise funds, and we encourage other workplaces to do the same.
