For those of you who haven't heard, on August 28, Rebecca was in an accident involving a gas grill explosion resulting in massive 2nd degree and some 1st degree burns. From the local ER, she was transported to the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, NC, where she is still recovering. It became necessary to surgically remove large amounts of skin, which resulted in skin grafts on over 20% of her body.
Her insurance plan has a $5000 deductible, which will be impossible to meet when she is not working. It may be several months before she can return to work. She has daily physical and occupational therapy, and will need to continue for months after discharge. The schedule of follow up appointments back in Chapel Hill, the supplies for wound care and medications are all going to add up. There will also need to be temporary modifications for her living space to make it more accessible to walk in and out of the front door.
With every trial in life she has faced, she has always come out stronger. Rebecca will physically fight this; however, she needs whatever help you can give to assist with her medical expenses which are quickly accumulating.
Thank you for taking the time to read about her story. We appreciate any help or contribution, no matter how big or small! Please share our campaign link on social media and with your friends. We will keep you posted on the use of the funds and her recovery.
****It has come to my attention that some people don't want to use the Go Fund Me platform because of the fees removed from the donation. If you still want to donate you can send via paypal to Rebecca using her email. [email redacted]
