MCC Roller

The Malmsbury Cricket Club was founded over 150 years ago, always playing teams from bigger towns with lots of players unavailable at sowing or harvest time but we still have won many Premierships - including 2020. It's a great Family Club with many kids playing with their parents and everyone pitching in to help out when needed - very Australian!
We have the only turf pitch in the whole competition but that's only possible thanks to the tireless work of our volunteer Groundskeeper Laurie and the ancient Roller he has somehow kept going for many years.
(Laurie actually won the Channel 7’s Big Bash Local Legends this year for his amazing connection with the Club for over 70 years, from cub player to Club Captain and curating the wicket for the last 40 years!)

Sadly some lowlifes have stolen the motor from our lawn-roller!!! Even a large shade-cloth to protect the pitch has been taken. With only two teams and about half of our players being kids we can't raise all the money for a second hand roller just by ourselves so that's why we're here...

We're planning all sorts of local market-type fundraising but that's a long way from what we'll need.

Can YOU help? Any contributions will be more than gratefully received and when you come up to our special Fund-Raisers Day there'll be games and Traditional Afternoon Tea for the Kiddies and maybe a drink for the Grown-ups?? Come and have a hit or a bowl on a real turf wicket at the MCG!

Some of our young players are understandably very upset by all this and can't understand "Why would anyone do that to us?" , but we want to show them that this sort of behaviour is the exception not the rule - most people do the right thing and you've just got to feel sorry for those who don't.

So, thanks for your time and anything you can spare would really help a struggling little country club,

Cheers!
