If you are not aware this is an unexpected turn of events as, originally, there was not a Baseball Australia National Tournament for the 10/11s age. So our boys (along with the parents) were absolutely out of their minds when Baseball Australia called, three days after the Baseball NSW State Tournament finished, extending an invite to the Manly 10/11s team to the National Tournament in Lismore, NSW from 9-14 June. The boys have worked so hard and by placing 2nd in the NSW State Tournament that automatically results in a Nationals invitation at all age levels.
Each and every one of these boys have such passion for this sport and support each other on and off the field. It's really great to watch these 10 and 11 year old boys find new friendships while doing something they truly love. Everyone is extremely excited and incredibly grateful for the opportunity and it is amazing that all 13 boys are available and going! Remember, this tournament did not exist prior to the State Tournament so none of the families had these dates in the calendar or had planned for the costs of travel, accommodation or time away from work. Now it's up to the families to get them there with a cost of $2500 per child. Yikes!
We are asking you for any donation to help the team get there. Any money donated to this account will go toward the total cost, helping to bring each child's cost down. The boys earned this incredible opportunity and we need your help with this costly endeavour to get our boys to Lismore to represent Manly playing for a shot at a National Title!
A Brief Snippet of the journey the Manly 10/11 All Star Team have been on:
Leading up to this point, the boys went through a challenging and highly competitive two day trial before being selected to represent Manly as member of the 10/11s All Star Team... since then they trained 3 times per week for 6 weeks to prepare for the Baseball NSW State Tournament. The boys represented Manly incredibly well both on and off the field. They were top ranked after the first round of pool play, winning all of their games and allowing the fewest runs through three games. The boys won a tight semi-final game and ultimately lost in the Championship game to finish 2nd Place in NSW. We are all so proud of how the boys battled, supported each other and had smiles on their faces all the way through. And following the tournament the boys have, once again, been training 3 days a week for another 7 weeks leading up to the National Tournament.
