Make Garry Great Again

On Saturday Oct 3rd, Garry was involved in a major dirtbike incident at a family farm. Despite slow speed and a full face helmet, Garry came off the bike into a fence post and has suffered a major traumatic injury to his head and body.

He was helicoptered to the ICU at Flinders, has been heavily sedated ever since and has rib, leg, skull and face fractures. He has been fully sedated (intubated and unconscious) since the accident so we don't know the full extent of his (confirmed) brain injury yet, but we know his recovery is likely to be long, and hard.

Garry and Chrissa have always had a full plate, with young Reagan and Declan and their support needs, but Garry is always there for others, volunteering with Ladies of Variety, and a heap of disability related organisations. All his five children and his gorgeous wife mean the world to him, and I've set this up to help take some of the financial pressure off, with Chrissa now unable to work, and Garry's extra earnings stopped too. The bills won't stop, and we don't want Chrissa to be stressing about the bills when she needs to focus on Garry and the boys.

Garry's gorgeous older kids, Cat, Lucie and Todd are also in a world of pain for the Dad they love and adore so much.

It's hard to get the balance right writing this stuff. To be blunt, Garry is in bad shape. He's going to have a long and hard time healing and recovering, and can do with any support we can offer.

The money will be used to keep the household running, and cover their lost incomes for as long as possible.

We will also be setting up a "Gather my crew" online so those of you who would like to help with meals, or taking the boys out for some fun (we can arrange a support worker to go with you if you'd like some help) or other bits and pieces. It's super important that Reagan and Declan spend time with extended family and friends they know, so please see if you can help in that way, too. We can help with ideas if you're unsure.

Can I also ask, that if you're visiting Garry's family and the Reagan and Declan are home, please do not talk about the accident in front of them. We are working to make sure they get a consistent message and understanding. We are using the words "Dad got a big bang on his head" - with no mention of the motorbike at this stage, please.

We need this guy back!

GoFundMe says I need to explain who I am: This has been set up with the full approval  and support of Chrissa and their family. As background, I've been friends these guys for 15 years since we met in a parent support group. We've enjoyed holidays and parties and advocacy and campaigning and just hanging with our kids for many years now.

Thanks in advance for your support, and love.
