Help Mace fight for climate!

I'M ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT
In August this year I took part in a direct action to stop native forest logging in Helms - a significant habitat site for forest red-tailed black cockatoos, just outside of Nannup. We set out to halt all logging operations in the coupe for as long as possible and garner media attention for the devastating destruction happening in the South West. We were successful on both fronts. Work was not able to commence for an entire day, several major television and print media outlets covered the action and some incredible footage captured on the day was used in the groundbreaking documentary: Cry of the Forests.

Unfortunately, there are some hefty costs associated with civil disobedience. I was arrested, charged with causing a nuisance on CALM land and subsequently fined after two court appearances in the south west.

I'm reaching out to you, as a member of my community, to please help me recover the expenses that have left me financially insecure and allow me to continue my work as a direct action activist.

BREAKDOWN OF COSTS
$500 - infringement
$120 - court fees
$600 - associated costs, i.e. travel to and from the south west for court appearances, accomodation for court appearances, etc.

WE ARE FACING EXTINCTION
As wide spread ecological collapse devastates the globe, food and water shortages grow rapidly, thousands are displaced, a pandemic takes the lives of millions and species extinction reaches new heights, there is no more denying the catastrophic outcomes of our changing climate. We must act immediately and with haste if there is to be any hope for our future.

CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW
It is entirely unreasonable that the Indigenous communities least responsible for climate change, are the ones who will be affected first and disproportionately. As a white ally who directly benefits from the oppressive structures destroying our planet and displacing indigenous populations I have a moral obligation to utilise my privilege and stand up for country.

WHY BREAK THE LAW?
For longer than I've been alive, climate activists have been staunchly campaigning to protect our shrinking natural world. Through petitions, mass strikes, meetings with members of parliament, phone banking, community organising and local government, there have been huge strides towards environmental justice. Unfortunately though, these strides have not come soon enough and traditional channels of influencing change are no longer achieving the results we need.

FORESTS FOR LIFE
Old growth native forests will be one of our most valuable assets in mitigating the worst effects of climate change. Their incredible capacity for drawing carbon out of the atmosphere, regulating temperature, producing rainfall and supporting species diversity can not be overstated. Protecting what little remains if of vital importance.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Please enjoy one million trillion billion tonnes of gratitude and love, the knowledge you're helping support dedicated activists to save our future.
