Samadhan, Dakshipuri, is an NGO established in 1981, which provides accessible and affordable therapy and educational services for children with intellectual disabilities that are also impacted by poverty.
Currently services are on hold and have been since March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With continued lock-downs all direct clinical, therapeutic and other services for the children have been disrupted.
However, staff are trying to maintain some sort of a routine and consistency by creating small WhatsApp groups, still teaching students and guiding and advising parents on various therapy techniques for their child, that they can implement at home.
COVID-19 has posed some unique challenges for the children, the families and caregivers of SAMADHAN.
With fathers losing their jobs or daily income, living within the confines of a crowded locality and paired with extra care responsibilities, many parents and caregivers are facing mental and physical stress.
With no foreseeable change in circumstances in the immediate future for the families, children and staff of Samadhan, the financial impact on services that Samadhan provides will suffer.
We would love it if you would consider donating to help keep this service going. Did you know that:
$20 pays for two weeks of medication for a child
$50 pays for therapy and educational services for a child for a week
$120 pays for a teachers wages for two weeks
$250 pays for eight speech therapy sessions
