Dylan's Recovery & Rehabilitation

Two weeks ago tomorrow our 20 year old cousin Dylan woke up to start his day at his new job as an apprentice electrician. It started like any other day, but ended up being a day that will be life changing for him and his family.

After having his shower and eating his breakfast he started to have a headache which was the first symptom of a few things that quickly led to Dylan collapsing unconscious.

Lucky for Dylan the air ambulance and specialised ambulance officers had just attended a car accident close by and were on the scene within 20 minutes. It would of been horrific for his young girlfriend Abbey and her family to monitor Dylan until help showed up, but the care they gave him ultimately saved Dylan’s life and we will be forever grateful to them.

After being airlifted to Melbourne he underwent intensive brain surgery that lasted nearly 8 hours. His condition is rare, it lies dormant in the brain, they describe it as a ticking time bomb. 1% of the global population are born with this condition of those people born with it only 2% will have it rupture in there lifetime!
Dylan has been in an induced coma for over a week now and is now in a spontaneous coma. Now we play the waiting game for him to wake up. It is unknown the extent or damage the bleed has caused but it was a massive haemorrhage so we are hoping for the best and any little improvement that happens is a blessing.

After speaking to our Aunty (Dylan’s mum) today about Dylan it is now apparent that Dylan won’t be home for Christmas and will be in Hospital for at least another 6 weeks if everything goes to plan.

We have had so many people ask if they can help so that’s why we started this page. Our Aunty is a proud mum and not one to ask for help, that’s why we have convinced her to let us do this for Dylan and for any costs associated with his rehabilitation.

We know it’s a busy and expensive time of the year so we are extremely grateful for any help at all.

Thank you so much! Jayden + Ashleigh XO
