Dear Black Girl

Ellen is encouraging all of her fans and viewers to help and support two incredibly giving sisters, Cassandra Pryor and Melody Smalls from the Bronx. A few years ago, Cassandra lost her long-term boyfriend unexpectedly, leaving her a single mother of two. Her sister, Melody, immediately moved into their one-bedroom apartment to help. Since then, they have struggled financially, but despite their circumstances, both Cassandra and Melody wanted to give back to their community, so they created an inspiring program called Dear Black Girl.

Dear Black Girl is based out of the Bronx, with the mission to inspire, encourage and uplift young girls, teaching them to love and believe in themselves. It aims to build a sisterhood among girls in the community ages 7-14, through special events such as lunches and sleepovers. Cassandra and Melody want these girls to know that they are loved and special, while giving them the confidence to achieve their dreams.


Dear Black Girl is an amazing program, and they need your help! Any donation will help this program grow, and improve the lives of these girls. All proceeds will help fund group events, assist in buying school supplies and will help provide college funding.
