We are the Galluzzo family from Narrandera NSW, Wiradjuri Country.
Our son and little brother Michael unexpectedly passed away this week at the age of 34.
Michael was the most generous, smart, caring and kind person who always thought of others. Michael wanted to change the world and was destined to do great things. A natural leader who saw the value of an education for himself and for others.
Michael completed a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts degrees at ANU and other studies. He always said that without the support of a scholarship he would not have been able to attend university as he was not eligible for government assistance.
He worked tirelessly to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Peoples right across Australia. In particular, Stolen Generation survivors and their descendants in his various roles such as ; the Healing Foundation, Reconciliation Australia and ASIC.
Michael spent his short life committed to helping so many others as a Rotarian and as an Australian volunteer building schooIs in remote communities in India, Indonesia and South Africa.
In honour of Michael, we would like to create a platform where other First Nations Students are afforded the same opportunity to seek higher educational studies and be able to become future leaders of our communities.
This platform will take the form of annual scholarship to continue in his legacy. This scholarship will be created once fundraising is complete and will be awarded to a First Nations Student after a competitive application process. the scholarship recipient will be chosen by the family with priority given to a First Nations student from the Narrandera and surrounding areas.
Any support you can give is much appreciated love from The Galluzzo Family
