SUPPORT US IN PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED FUNDS TO OUR FRIENDS IN RURAL INDIA.
In December 2018, myself and 11 other students from UWA travelled to rural Karnataka, India as part of a Public Health Field Trip. Here we were hosted and cared for by the non-government organisation Grama Vikas.
Grama Vikas is a rural development organisation in the southern state of Karnataka. It's goal is integrated with rural development of poor and highly marginalised communities.
It breaks our hearts to learn that our friends in India are struggling to survive at this time. Since COVID- 19, people are confined to their homes, and with no employment opportunities at all, already marginalised people are struggling to feed their families.
Grama Vikas has established a relief program, in which they aim to provided nutritious food to 1000 families across 17 villages. As of 30th April, Grama Vikas has provided food for over 100 families.
We have set up this GoFundMe page to reach out to our families and friends who wish to contribute alongside us to support Grama Vikas at this time of crisis.
Even a small donation can make a huge difference to this community.
